Highlands named best place to stay in UK for family fun

People looking for family fun should head to the Highlands, according to a leading hospitality website.

New research from holidaycottages.co.uk has revealed the most popular areas to stay in the UK for families in 2022.

Holiday accommodation specialists say that with searches for ‘family holiday resorts UK’ up 130% over the past year, it’s clear the holiday boom is here to stay last.

So to help find the most popular places to stay for families in 2022, the Vacation Homes team used search data research to find the best locations and included expert advice on where you should stay based on your family’s interests.

And it looks like the Highlands is the place to go in Scotland.

With searches up by more than 50% this year, the popular tourist destination in northern Scotland has been chosen as ideal for families who love wildlife and outdoor activities.

The holidaycottages.co.uk team said: “As searches for ‘family resorts in Scotland’ have increased by 51%, the endless choice of beauty spots, beaches, castles and national parks sees the Scotland abounds with entertainment for families.

“Whether or not you seek out the creatures of ancient folklore, Scotland is also one of the best places in the UK to view wildlife.

“With seals, dolphins and humpback whales off the coast, red squirrels in fragrant pine forests or majestic red deer in the glens, Scotland is hard to beat if you’re looking for a place for your family of wildlife explorers.”

Cornwall, North Wales, the Lake District and Norfolk, the other family places named in the list.
