Julia Jacklin Announces 2022 Tour Dates, Shares “I Was Neon”

After the success of Julia Jacklin’s breakthrough album in 2019 Crushingthe stakes are high for the release of its follow-up Pre Pleasure. The Aussie have become a much-requested touring band and fans generally look forward to what comes after the honest and unfettered expressions of femininity, sensitivity, love and confidence in one’s own skin that Crushing has been.

Pre pleasure due out August 26, and much like on debut single “Lydia Wears A Cross,” the new “I Was Neon” sees Jacklin stray further from folk and dive deeper into pop rock sounds. Her gorgeous voice, however, remains pristine, with invigorating guitar riffs at every turn on the upbeat groove. She explained that this particular song informed the visual aspect of the presentation of the new album.

“I first wrote ‘I Was Neon’ for a band called Rattlesnack, a short-lived, much-loved side project in 2019 in which I played drums,” Jacklin said in a statement. “I rewrote it for my album in Montreal, at a time when I desperately longed for a version of myself that I feared would disappear forever. I was thinking about this song when I made the album cover, this song is the album cover, really.

Along with the new single, also comes a full list of world tour dates. Jacklin will be in North America starting in late August, then heading to Europe.
