Prayagraj: The district administration plans to develop more tourist attractions in the town of Sangam, keeping in mind the high visitor numbers expected during the Maha Kumb in 2025.
Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) is preparing to develop the Kanihar City Lake project which could be the city’s first “green tourism” destination.
The proposed massive project in an area of 65.68 hectares (over 650,000 sqm) of land near Jhunsi and Andawa village a few kilometers from the heart of Sangam town, would also become the favorite picnic spot locals who want to spend quality time in a natural environment. . “We prepared a detailed project report (CMA) and aim to provide a calming place amidst a peaceful and calm atmosphere with nature, flora and fauna on 65 hectares where people can spend quality time and relax,” said the Vice President of the PDA. Arvind Chauhan.
According to the DPR, PDA would create a forest using the famous Miyawaki technique and the existing lake on the site would be rejuvenated according to the experts’ suggestions.
Once ready, the Kanihar City Lake would become the favorite retreat of the city’s residents and a must-see spot for tourists.
It would be part of the Smart city project for which PDA would soon launch a call for tenders. Chauhan further said that PDA would build cabins around the huge lake where visitors could stay for a few days amidst the natural beauty. The lake covers a wide area and PDA would develop it as a center of tourism long before the Maha Kumbh.
Prior to the renovation, authorities would build a boundary around the lake to protect it from encroachment.
The site would have a nature trail with grass, landscaping, a yoga center, a children’s play area, an open gymnasium, a boating facility and other amenities.
