Master Sergeant Young urged people to be careful around the water, especially during the holiday season.

“A message I want to get across in particular this Christmas in regards to dangerous waters, please be aware of dangerous waters, obey the signs relating to the areas you frequent and do not go into dangerous waters” , did he declare.

The child was taken to Sunshine Coast Teaching Hospital for observation.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
