Weekend in a cellar: visit Temecula in the style of a “real housewife”

TEMECULA, CA – Those looking for a unique way to experience the Temecula wine country can pick up a page from the Kathy Hilton hotel chain’s “hunky-dory” playbook – the Temecula Valley Cable Car Wine Tours tram service.

Hilton, a newcomer to this season’s “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, has organized a girls’ getaway to San Diego, with a detour to the vineyards of Temecula. The episode, which aired this week, featured the cast’s wine-tasting adventures via Temecula Valley Cable Car Wine Tours, a local business that uses restored 1900s San Francisco cable cars to drive guests.

Cable Car Wine Tours, which offers daytime wine tours and nighttime haunted tours, was launched in 2006 with the initial goal of restoring an original 1914 cable car in San Francisco as a vineyard cart.

Now, years later, the company operates five cable cars in Temecula, three in Texas and is working on 25 more for the wine regions of Napa, Sonoma and Paso Robles, according to Jared Broach, director of Eat Drink Scare Tours.

“Our Instagram-worthy cable cars are unlike any experience in the wine country,” Broach said. “They set the mood for what is going to be an amazing day … We combine this historic walk with our specially trained tour guides, while most companies do the drop and wait, on our tours you get a guide tourist trained to stay with you all day, help you and explain the wine and the winemaking process. “

Cable cars can be booked for general or private tours – with up to 32 seats per trolley – and are popular with family reunions, weddings and bachelorette parties, the company said.

Filming the RHOBH episode in February took a full day, and the cast, crew… and Broach… had to be silent on the details until the September broadcast and promotion.

“We certainly weren’t allowed to reveal that we had filmed or anything, until they showed a preview or posted something,” he said.

“I think the only thing that surprised me was that it wasn’t scripted at all. I thought there would be times when they would stop filming and make us do stuff again, but it was was really all natural, ”said Broach, who credited Bravo the producers did“ an amazing job editing me to make me look a lot smarter than I felt the scene had unfolded ”.

Hilton, mother of famous daughters, Paris and Nicky, and now the show’s fan favorite of RHOBH for her comedic jokes, including “Who’s Hunky Dory?” took cast members Erika Girardi, Kyle Richards, Lisa Rinna, Dorit Kemsley, Garcelle Beauvais, Sutton Stracke and Crystal Kung Minkoff on the Southern California excursion.

Tour guide Broach said he found Hilton to be an “incredibly down to earth person.”

As for the reactions of customers from local wineries to RHOBH’s arrival? Overkill, according to Broach, who said guests greeted the women upon arrival.

“It was a little crazy how famous they really are, and to be around that. I’m definitely not used to that experience,” he said.
