New year, new movies…
Netflix has wasted no time in bringing its subscribers an exciting array of new content. One of the latest titles to gain attention on the platform is The Royal Treatment.
Directed by Rick Jacobson, this American romance follows a hairstylist named Izzy (played by Laura Marano) who gets the opportunity to show off her talents aboard the wedding of Prince Thomas (Mena Massoud).
Since arriving on Thursday, January 20, 2022, audiences have been curious about the production’s striking filming locations. So where was The Royal Treatment filmed?
Where was The Royal Treatment filmed?
The Royal Treatment was filmed in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Located in the Otago region, the city provided the filmmakers with the perfect location to shoot, as the project required a castle.
The crew landed at Larnach Castle, a popular tourist site designed by Robert Arthur Lawson. It has picturesque gardens which are also part of the final cut, creating the impression of a character swept away by his regal surroundings.
While the exteriors help create the illusion of figures navigating the grounds of the grand castle, they actually filmed the interior scenes of Olveston Historic Home, which you can find at 42 Royal Terrace, North Dunedin.
For the public who fell in love with the look and feel of the place, you’ll be pleased to hear that it’s open to visitors.
More filming locations from The Royal Treatment
Going forward, other locations include the Victorian neighborhood of Oamaru on Harbor Street, South Hill, while Vogel Street and Princes Street are also part of the mix.
The story takes place in the fictional nation of Lavania and partly in New York. However, the crew did not film in New York, instead passing off Vogel Street as NYC.
Principal photography began in late February 2021 and wrapped later in May.
