Lucknow, April 18 (UNI) Finance Minister Suresh Khanna on Monday claimed that Uttar Pradesh was number one in the country in providing soft loans to roadside vendors under the Prime Minister Swanidhi and said he was promoting entrepreneurial skills of small entrepreneurs Rs 21,000 crore loan will be distributed under the scheme in the next 100 days. Addressing a press conference at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state office, Khanna said Prime Minister Swanidhi’s program would prove beneficial in making the UP self-reliant. “Under the scheme, loans of Rs 51,000 crore will be given out in six months and Rs 2 lakh crore in five years during the second term of the Yogi government,” he said. He said more than Rs 33,000 crore was deposited in Prime Minister Jan Dhan’s scheme to organize funds for public welfare works. “Along with the opening of Jan Dhan accounts in banks, 700 new bank branches and 700 ATMs of 12 banks will be launched to expand banking services in the state,” he said. Khanna said that as directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, austerity is kept in mind while carrying out all major works with the aim of strengthening the structure of the financial system of State. Referring to the financial achievements of the state government, Khanna said that at present the state gross domestic product (GSDP) is above Rs 17 lakh crore. “There has been a significant increase in GSDP over the past five years,” he said. The FM said that a sharp increase was registered in the credit-to-deposit ratio (CDR) of the state and that Bank Sakhis played an important role in the banking system. “Due to the huge increase in digital transactions in the state, it reached the level of Rs 391 crore. As a result of this and an unprecedented increase in the size of UP’s budget, it became more than that of Rs 5 lakh crore,” he mentioned. UNI ABSY 1532
